I decided to start this topic so we can share groups for blind parents that we've created/joined. The ones I would particularly like to share are:
Blind Parents of Facebook (On Facebook under the search term "blind parents")
also, I've created a Klango Parents group on Klango. Anyone else have a group in mind, please feel free to share and also don't hesitate to join/create a group mentioned in this topic.
hmm didn't know about the one on facebook, and what is clango...there's a parents message board on the AFB site...I am going to be starting a nonprofit soon, and that is something that I am considering adding to the organization...thanks brandi
Oh No problem. Klango is another blindness related community. It's actually kind of cool.It's free and fairly simple to use. It's actual software that you puton your computer and there's all kinds of things you can do on it. You can get it at: klango.net. That's Klango with a K BTW.
I know of three groups.
They are:
blindparenting+subscribe@googlegroups.com
blind-christian-parents+subscribe@googlegroups.com
And there is a single blind parents group on Google as well, but I don't remember the subscribe info for that.

Are all these for parents of young children, or do any involve parents of teens?

We have parents with children of all ages, and we even have some blind grandparents. We would love to have anyone who would like to join. The blind parents group is an especially active board with many members.

LeoGuardian, the blind parenting group covers children of all ages, even some young adults in their 20's.
there is also an nfb blind parenting group, and a very on topic blind parenting group. i'll have to get the info for them. i believe you can get the nfb one from nfb's website. and you don't have to be a member of nfb to join. i'm not.
I tried to join a couple of these,s ince I am planning on starting a family soon... but emails bounced back to me. Can someone help?
if you can send me a private message with your email address that you would like to be added with, i can add you to the blind parents google list. i'm a mod there.

How do you subscribe to these groups? Do you just write an email or something? Sorry, never done anything like that before. Don't mean to sound clueless, but I'm curious.
If you want to join, just pm me your email address and I will add you to the group. And then yes, you will receive an email when someone posts a message to the group. You also just write an email if you want to post, reply to an email that you want to post to, etc. It's basically sending emails to everyone in a group and anyone who emails is sending theirs to everyone as well.
